POSITION: MECHANICAL DESIGN DRAFTER - AUTOCAD/INVENTOR
Job Description
Seeking a Mechanical Design Drafter, proficient with AutoCAD or Inventor to work in the engineering department of a leading manufacturer of store fixtures. Position is located in Cudahy, CA with excellent salary, benefits, medical and dental group coverage, 401 (K) plan and paid vacation.
JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager and/or the General Manager, employee uses engineering skills and knowledge to draw plans to exact specifications, creating parts, whole frames or assemblies for product line or custom applications, using Inventor and AutoCAD programs. Good computer and basic engineering skills are a must; also experience in creating bill of materials and cut lists is important. Applicant should be adept at using measurement tools, calipers micrometers, etc. May interact with customers to resolve engineering problems. May be assigned other jobs by management.
BASIC FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
Create professional plans and specification for parts, whole frames or assemblies for product lines or custom applications to assist in the development of new or improved products.
Maintain integrity of drawings and drawing system.
Work effectively with staff, supervision and management to resolve manufacturing issues and determine needs of customer.
Prepare written reports and files.
Interact with Production Engineers and Manufacturing Personnel to optimize product design for ease of manufacturing.
Prepare drawings for off-shore manufacturing partners.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience and/or degree in mechanical drafting.
Knowledge of engineering principles and ability to apply
principles to needs of Company
Knowledge of and ability to utilize computer and computer programs to accomplish detailed plans and drawings of parts, frames, etc.
Ability to make written and verbal reports, maintain records and files
Ability to be a self-starter, and to complete objectives with a minimum of supervision
Proficient in use of Computer Aided Engineering/Design (CAE/CAD). Proficient with Inventor is a plus.
